maison de mai’s inspiration
Maison de Mai, which means "House of Mai," was born from a place of love, as a heartfelt tribute to my dear mother, May. Her cooking inspired my love for food from an early age and deepened my connection to food because of its power to bring people together.
This journey eventually took me to Paris, where I had the privilege of learning the art of pastries and bread from the most talented chefs. At Maison de Mai, I pour the same warmth and care into every pastry that my mother put into her homemade meals.
Unlike mass-produced goods, each of my small-batch creations is lovingly handmade, crafted with the same attention and heart that my mum would have put into her own baking. This is my way of honoring her memory, one croissant at a time!
where it all started
Baking has always been a passion of mine since childhood, rooted in a memory that has stayed with me. Starting around when I turned 10, every time my family would visit my grandparents in Yangon, Burma, I would always convince my grandmother to let me set up a small “fair” in her backyard. I spent days planning the setup, creating a menu, and experimenting with recipes. On the day of the fair, friends, family, and neighbours would come by to buy my baked goods where all proceeds went to a local charity.
Looking back, that experience ignited a passion that still drives me today, and it's the same dedication I pour into Maison de Mai.
